Vehicle Checking |
You want to buy a used vehicle that you
have seen advertised, after viewing it and a test drive, you find it to
be perfect –
or is that really the case? The car you are about to buy may have a hidden
history i.e. it has been stolen, the mileage has
been clocked, it may have been involved in a major car accident and has been
classed as a insurance write-off or it is
none of
these however, it was purchased on finance and it still has an outstanding
balance owing on the vehicle. |

What is a Vehicle
Check? |
You went to look at a used vehicle advertised privately, you went to
test drove it and it seems to be a good buy. Do you
know
everything about the vehicle history? |
|
How to do a Vehicle Check |
- Online is the most commonly proffered method of actually doing a
Vehicle Check, it is normally provided instantly
in a report form and can also be emailed to you or printed out for a
hard copy reference.
- By Telephone, This service is offered by some companies such as

charge a little more for the privilege, you get confirmation of the

The reasons
as to why you should do a vehicle check:
- If you do not want to buy a
vehicle
that has been stolen. When the owner catches up with you,
you are legally required to turn over the vehicle that you have
purchased back over to the rightful owner. Loosing out hundreds
maybe thousands of pounds. So Check
your vehicle now!
- If you do not want to buy a vehicle that has been
categorised by an insurance company as an insurance write-off
or total loss. The vehicle may legally be allowed to
be put back on the road, however the extensity of the damage and
quality level of repair may not be par. Therefore the strength of
the vehicle may be adequately secure, in an event of an
accident the passengers you are carrying (friends/family) could be
at risk! So
Check your vehicle now!
- If you do not want to buy a vehicle that has been
involved in a major accident and the extent of the damage was so
severe that it has ordered to been scrapped by the governing
body. The
vehicle has still been put back on the
road by any method possible i.e. "CUT N' SHUT" - a front half of a
vehicle has been cut and back half from a
different
vehicle have been joined together to make
a whole
vehicle . Again the integrity of the
vehicle structure may not be adequate.
So Check your vehicle now!
- If you do not want to buy a vehicle who's
mileage has been clocked or tampered with. A
vehicle may have done more miles than you thought. It shows 22, 000
miles where it has actually done 112, 000 miles. The vehicle may
need major changes depending on the amount of mileage the vehicle
has actually done - you may be looking at costly replacements that
are required at the true mileage of the vehicle such as: cam belt,
gear box, clutch etc.
- If you do not want to buy a vehicle that has an
outstanding finance balance that has
been unpaid. You buy a
vehicle from a seller that has a balance owing on it. If this
remains unpaid - you are either liable to pay the remainder to keep
the vehicle or if the balance is too high - they will repossess the
vehicle, leaving you out of pocket. So
Check your vehicle now!
- If you do not want to buy a vehicle that has a
hidden identity. A vehicle that was ordered to be scrapped was
bought at a salvage yard for dirt cheap. An identical vehicle with
same specifications - colours has been located and is stolen. The
scrapped vehicle's chassis number or VIN (Vehicle
Identification number) have been cloned onto the stolen vehicle
- to give it a new (Fraudulent) identity.
So Check your vehicle now!
- If you do not want to buy a vehicle that has associated
with security watch. A company has issued an employee with a
company car, and the car is put on a security watch
programme - therefore if the employee tries to sell the car and
a buyer does a vehicle check on the car - it will display
that it is on security watch. Which warns you not to buy the car, as
the seller is not the legal owner of the car that is intended to be
sold.
So Check your vehicle now!
- If you do not want to buy a vehicle that has been on
Police watch. You may end up with a vehicle that is been
monitored by the police and get mixed up in something that you
clearly have nothing to do with.
- If you do not want to buy a vehicle that has had a
plate transfer to hide the true identity of the vehicle's
history. A vehicle may have been involved in a robbery
and the seller changes the number plate to hide its past
history.
- If you do not want to buy a vehicle that has
fraudulent documentation. You may be supplied with
vehicles official documents which are not the original and
have been forged, to hide details concerning the true identity of
the vehicle.
So Check your vehicle now!
- If you do not want to buy a vehicle that has been
over priced. With a vehicle check you may be given a
vehicle valuation, to give you an approximate vehicle market value.
So Check your vehicle now!
